CK Umesh Uthappa is son of the legendary businessman and freedom fighter CP Kushalappa, founder of Ramakrishna Rice Mills, Ponnampet, Kodagu (established in 1944 and still running today by CK Umesh Uthappa).

CK Umesh Uthappa follows illustriously in the steps of his legendary father and is president of Ponnampet Town Bank, Cauvery College, Nyaya Peeta and is also a seasoned and established planter, and commodities trader in rice and coffee.

He is married to Imie Bojamma who is also devoting her life to social service and she is Vice President of Ponnampet Kodava Samaja and Ponnampet Mahila Samaja.

They have one daughter Moksha Poovamma who is one of Bangalore’s leading Breast Cancer surgeons and married to Bollachettira Dhyan Appachu, son of Bollachettira Mandanna Appachu and Sushila.

They have one grandson Samathva Dhyan Bollachettira.
